One request, matched to the actual job

A pre-purchase inspection is not the same assignment as a tonnage measurement or commercial-code survey. We keep the scope clear from the beginning.

How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Mexican survey locations

Plan the survey around Mexico’s widely separated boating coasts

Mexico is a collection of distinct survey markets rather than one travel area. Start with the state and exact facility, then confirm lift capacity, contractor access, sea-trial arrangements, vessel documentation and whether the report is private or intended for a Mexican authority.

Baja California & northern Pacific

Ensenada · Rosarito · northern Baja yards

A major refit, purchase and cross-border area. Confirm yard access, haul-out dimensions, customs status and whether a US-based specialist must travel.

Sea of Cortez & southern Baja

La Paz · Cabo San Lucas · San José del Cabo · Loreto · Puerto Escondido

Long distances separate the principal marinas. State the exact berth, yard, lift limit and travel route before scheduling.

Pacific mainland

Puerto Vallarta · Riviera Nayarit · Mazatlán · Manzanillo · Acapulco · Huatulco

Multiple states and widely spaced yacht centres require port-specific matching. Confirm marina permission, haul-out and the intended trial area.

Gulf of Mexico

Tampico · Veracruz · Campeche · Progreso

Leisure, fishing and commercial facilities can have different access controls. Identify the actual yard and whether specialist or statutory attendance is required.

Mexican Caribbean

Cancún · Isla Mujeres · Cozumel · Puerto Aventuras · Riviera Maya

Island transfer, resort-marina controls and limited lift options can affect the assignment. Confirm where the underwater inspection will take place.

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What details are needed for a marine survey quote in Mexico?

Provide the state, coast, exact marina or yard, vessel particulars, construction, purpose and date. Include lift, sea trial, travel and any insurer, lender, import, registration or SEMAR requirement.

Can one surveyor cover Baja and mainland Mexico?

Not as a general assumption. Mexico’s boating regions are separated by long travel distances. Start with the vessel’s actual location and match competence, language and availability locally where possible.

Is a private yacht survey the same as a Mexican vessel inspection?

No. Mexico’s maritime authority administers inspection and certification, and Mexican law permits authorised third-party inspectors for defined vessel inspections under authority supervision. Confirm the formal route before instruction.

Can the survey report be provided in Spanish or English?

Either may be available, but the report language, intended recipient, technical terminology and any required translation should be agreed directly with the surveyor.

Are haul-out, travel and sea trial included?

Only when stated in writing. Yard fees, lift, wash, relaunch, flights or road travel, accommodation, skipper, fuel and specialist diagnostics may be separate.

Who appoints the marine surveyor?

The client appoints the independent surveyor directly and agrees scope, fee, timing and terms. Mexico Marine Survey provides information and introductions only.

Can you help with other specialist marine survey assignments?

Potential assignments include cross-border purchase inspections, new-build, refit & repair supervision, engine diagnostics & oil analysis, rig & mast inspections, moisture, osmosis & corrosion, damage, grounding & hurricane surveys, sea trials & delivery acceptance, semar inspection & certification work. Availability depends on the location, vessel and required specialist capability or formal appointment.
